Derek Curtis is an artist who explores the way nature and the natural world, in which we consume and live, is represented through today’s contemporary society. The ideas for his artistic practice evolve from the use of everyday materials used in conjunction with cultural or art historical references. His work takes the forms of Paintings, Sculptures and Installations.

He was born in Slough, England and  completed his BA (Hon's) in Fine Art at the Surrey Institute of Art and Design in June 2000.  Curtis then spent two years as a guest student of Professor Timm Ulrichs at the Academy of Art in Münster, Germany. In 2002 he was awarded a Woo Foundation Graduate Bursary.

Curtis exhibits regularly Internationally . Recent solo exhibitions at Galerie Ruth Leuchter, Dusseldorf and Kunst Raum, Essen, Germany (2009) with group shows including Royal Academy of Art, London  (2007), Quattro x Quattro, Vernice Art Fair, Italy (2008) Jill George Gallery, London (2009)
