| The
Starting point for this installation was Robert Smithsons work Dead
Tree which was first exhibited at the Kunsthalle in Dusseldorf in
1969. This
consisted of a real dead tree.
For this installation
I made an artificial dead tree, constructed from plastic wood for the
trunk and branches, rope and plaster for the roots, and cotton
material and wire for the leaves. With various plastic animals and
birds and artificial grass.
The Wewerker
Pavillion is itself an artificially constructed clear glass space, in
the centre of the Aase Park in Münster. This allowed the work to
form a dialogue between the artificial environment inside with the
natural world outside.
